Guidelines on the Verification of Gross Mass of a Container with Cargo Packed in Hong Kong

Guidelines on the Verification of Gross Mass of a Container with Cargo Packed in Hong Kong have been published by the Marine Department of HKSAR. The guideline provides two methods for verification of gross mass of a packed container.

  • Method 2: Shipper may weigh all packages and cargo items; including the mass of pallets, dunnage and other securing materials to be packed in the container and add the tare mass of the container to the sum of the single mass using a method certified by the Marine Department.
